This year marks the 45th annual National EMS Week
In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized the third week in May to celebrate the tireless and valiant EMS practitioners that serve across the nation in our local communities.
This year, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians continues its partnership with the American College of Emergency Physicians as we pause to celebrate the contributions of EMS practitioners across the country with their “Beyond the Call” theme. Each day of the week will represent a specific theme that covers the varied nature of EMS.
- Monday – EMS Education Day
- Tuesday – EMS Safety Day
- Wednesday – EMS for Children Day
- Thursday – Save-A-Life Day (CPR & National Stop the Bleed Day)
- Friday – EMS Recognition Day
This week, help celebrate the passion and dedication our first responders show us every day as they come to our aid during our darkest and, oftentimes, most frightening times
Drop by your local EMS station and offer the Emergency Medical Technicians and paramedics on duty some home-baked goods, host a community banquet to recognize their service, or just give them a big “thank you” and a smile! Knowing that you support them and care will go a long way to boosting morale and letting them know the community cares just as much as they do.
