A Sweet Treat for Your Pup:
Your Pup Can Enjoy Ice Cream in Williamson County
We’ve been having a blast coming up with different home-made ice creams this month!
And for National Ice Cream Day, we have a special treat for that four-legged furry family member. Home-made dog-friendly ice cream. The first ingredient is yogurt. Choose one without artificial preservatives and added sugars. Yogurt is high in calcium and protein. And if you get one with active bacteria, it can act as a probiotic which is good for your dog’s digestive system. The second ingredient is bananas. High in potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. Recommended as an alternative to fatty, salty treats. And lastly, peanut butter. Make sure to use one that is Xylitol-free. This is a sugar-replacement sweetener that is in hundreds of products. It’s labeled as an “all-natural” sugar substitute but can poison your dog. Use one that its only ingredient is peanuts.
1 Banana cut into small pieces
½ Quart of plain yogurt
½ Cup of peanut butter
Put all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Place in small individual cups and put in the freezer. Makes about four 4 oz servings. With any treat, give to your pooch in moderation.
